Park Play Date

Ever since Josiah's friend Walter and his family  moved we haven't had many play dates with people. I know BOTH of us are really missing them. So yesterday we got together with our friend Leigh and her two boys Luke (who is 5) and Colt (who is 3). We met at the park and had lunch while the boys played. We have been trying to get together for a while now but Luke got the chicken pox about a month ago and it took him forever to get better. So I am glad we got to have a play date at the park.

I have to say, I love this picture:)

I believe they had a great time together.

Since I am "friends" with Leigh on Facebook I had found out that morning that it was her birthday. So when she told me that she was planning on going to this new place called "The Chocolate Monkey" after the park for some ice cream, I told her we would go with her.
We drove with them in their van and enjoyed some REALLY good ice cream. As you can tell from the pictures below, the sugar hit them pretty quickly:) They started being silly and they wanted me to take pictures of it.

Josiah and Luke.

This Chocolate ice cream is REALLY good, mom:)

Thanks Leigh, for letting us tag along with you and help celebrate your birthday. I hope you had a nice day. And look forward to many more play dates SOON with these crazy boys.
By the way Angie, we miss you!!! Wish you were here with us.

Fishing

After we rested for a bit at the camp site we decided to go ahead and go to the lake and let the kids (mostly the boys) go fishing before it started raining again.
The lake we went to go fishing at had a very nice dock. There were some other people fishing there too.

Riley has gotten very brave about holding a worms in her hand. I know, I know, its a worm no big deal. But remember, this is Riley. She can be a girly-girl and she does NOT like bugs. But for some reason worms are her friends, UNTIL....they poop on her hands. Then she puts them back in their container.

Josiah is getting brave too:)

Jesse is VERY good at getting his fishing line tangled.

 BIG smiles.

 Our handsome Jester!

Riley wanted to take a picture of the two of us. She did a pretty good job.

Josiah's turn to take a picture!!!

At the end of the day, we walked away with no fish. So we had to go eat our chile.

Table Rock Pictures

TABLE ROCK!

So this past weekend we went to Table Rock for our camping trip with Jesse's cup scout troop. We had so much fun. I really wanted to hike Table Rock but evidently it takes about 3 hours to hike up there and then you have to get down again. So that's an ALL Day Edventure. And Josiah having little legs, I don't think that would have really been fun. But I really hope to do it one day.

So, after we ate lunch in Pickins, SC we drove back to our camp ground and stopped to enjoy the view. It is just beautiful.

Who knew that Table Rock was called "Sah-Ka-Na-Ga", meaning "Great Blue Hills Of God" in Cherokee.

Silly BOY:)

How To Play The Wash Board

So while we were at the Hagwood Mill Kids Day, they had a stage with some "Mountain Music". At one point they announced that they were going to have a "class for ALL ages" to learn how to play the Wash Board.

So Terry said he wanted to go up and learn how to play the wash board. As you can tell from the picture below, Joel and Riley were NOT going up on the stage. But Jesse and Josiah wanted to.

It seemed like it took forever for the guy to go over the instructions on how to play it. But they finally started passing them out. I have to say, these two boys look pretty cute with them on:)

 And this one does too:)

I wish you could "see" Josiah's little foot tapping. The guy was teaching them how to tap their foot and play the wash board at the same time. He did pretty good!!!

They had so much fun learning how to play the wash board. Terry said that he had the most fun. He wished I had gone up their with him. But I told him, WHO WOULD HAVE TAKEN THE PICTURES, RIGHT?????

Glad they had so much fun!!!

Cub Scout Camping Trip

This weekend we went camping with Jesse's cub scout troop. We went to Table Rock and had so much fun. We got there around 5:30pm on Friday afternoon and had to get the tent up pretty quickly because it looked like it was going to rain any moment. Luckily, it didn't start raining until 9:00pm. It was a pretty good storm though, rain and thunder. But luckily we have a pretty nice tent and we all stayed dry.

The Next day we went to Hagood Mill in Pickins County where they were having their kids day. Again, it was pretty cloudy but it was nice because it is already getting pretty hot.UGGG!

They had different things to look at including an old Cotton Gin. Riley especially enjoyed this because she is learning about South Carolina history right now and they are in the middle of the civil war right now and learning about Eli Whitney and the cotton gin.

There was also a Moonshine Still (don't worry, it was just water).

I just love museums like this. Seeing how they did things way back when.

We had to get a family picture in front of the "water tire" like JoJo called it.

This is the man that was "in charge" of the Moonshine Still". Terry saw him walking across the field and he said "THAT is what I want to look like when I'm retired". So we had to stop him and get a picture of the two of them together.
JoJo and daddy by the "Water Tire".

These are some handsome boys!
We had such a good time. After we were done walking around, we got into the car and drove to Pinkins and had lunch there and then went back to the camp ground. I was so glad we stayed dry that day. Although when we woke up Sunday morning to rain again. So we stayed in the tent until it stopped and then packed everything up and left for home. Once we got home, we had to put everything back up since the tent was ALL wet. So we put it up in the drive way so it could dry up. We thought we had to leave it up until Monday night so it could dry all the way, but because it is already so hot it dried up in about an hour. So then we had to take it DOWN again. Luckily my neighbors, Tony and Marlene were SO nice that they invited us over for dinner that night. One LESS thing I had to worry about:) THANK YOU, TONY AND MARLENE!!!!
